Our Background

Our company’s founder and owner, Amanda Rogers, has a Master’s degree in Child and Youth Study and has worked for 20 years for not-for-profit and community-based agencies in several senior-level positions, including Manager, Director, and Executive Director. A significant portion of these roles was to secure funding through grants, liaise with funders, and report on funded projects and programs. Through this work, she developed a proven track record in obtaining high-level and multi-year grant funding.

Amanda has a rich history of working with underrepresented communities, including Indigenous communities throughout Atlantic Canada, women, young women, youth, and children. Amanda also spent several years teaching English in South Korea and traveling to over 25 countries. Amanda understands the plight of not-for-profit and charitable organizations and has always been passionate about helping others. And, while she ended her career in not-for-profit once she started a family, there was still a pressing need to continue to help those in need.

Then, in 2017, Amanda had an idea. Why not take those skills that she had developed through years of education and experience, and use them to create a business to help others find similar success? She saw the immense need for first-rate grant writing, and all the great organizations who were struggling to get funding because their ideas weren’t being communicated as effectively as possible. And so, she founded iPlume Writing Inc., to give these clients a way to effectively communicate their brilliant ideas and programming to funding bodies all over the world.

Today, iPlume Writing provides various writing and editing services to clients worldwide. Amanda’s goal is being achieved, and we look forward to sharing her passion for great writing with you.

Meet Our Writers

Amanda Rogers

CEO

She/Her

I am the founder and owner of iPlume Writing Inc. and I provide writing and editing support to clients from around the globe. I am highly skilled in writing, grant writing, content editing, and copy editing. Prior to founding iPlume, I worked for over 20 years for not-for-profit and community-based organizations in several senior-level roles, including Manager, Director, and Executive Director. So, I understand what it means to be underfunded and overworked. That’s why I put my all into the grants that I write for my clients. I truly care about my clients, their missions, and about getting them the funding they deserve.

I have a Master of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Study, an Advanced Major Bachelor of Sociology, and I have spent several years focusing on qualitative and quantitative research and academic writing. I also spent three years teaching English in South Korea, and I’ve traveled to over 25 countries. I am a well-rounded individual and I respect, honour, and create space to listen to and understand diverse perspectives and worldviews.

Shannon MacKay

Project Manager

She/Her

I am a graduate of Acadia University with a passion for community involvement, grammar, and the arts. After obtaining my Bachelor of Music Degree, I realized the parts I loved most about my undergraduate experience were not performances— but the times I spent listening, collaborating, and connecting with my community. This realization has brought me to iPlume, where I look forward to collaborating with clients who are doing amazing work in their communities. While working with campus organizations at Acadia, I learned the difference great writing can make when applying for funding and sharing your mission with a wider audience. As a (recovering) perfectionist, my favourite part about writing is the satisfaction of finding the perfect combination of words to express yourself.

After a year exploring city life in Toronto, I am excited to be back home in Nova Scotia taking in all the beaches and hiking trails the province has to offer. I am eager to grow my skills as an Assistant Writer with iPlume by helping clients bring their visions to life!
